Backlogged

pants: h&m (similar) // jacket: h&m // shirt: thrifted, CA  // scarf: forever 21 (similar) // earrings: gift -- thanks, tim! (similar) // shoes: thrifted, CA // bag: h&m (similar)

It's raining, it's pouring, packing up everything I own in preparation to move is both stressful, and kinda boring (that's how the kids' rhyme goes, right?). I feel this weird combination of being totally overwhelmed by the amount of crap we've accumulated since moving to California, and totally apathetic about what gets shipped and what gets donated. Also, I have way too many pairs of shoes. Usually they are hidden away in my closet  so I can pretend that I don't, but now that I'm cleaning and packing, I'm also counting... and it's too many. Note to self: be smarter when it comes to new purchases. Ugh, team... cross-country moves? Not  so much fun. Life lessons, from me to you!

So, here's a look from... maybe a few weeks ago? Life has been going so fast lately -- I can't quite remember (yikes), but if I was inclined to put on clothes today, I think I'd end up in a similar outfit. Except probably with boots instead of flats, thanks to that reliable SF drizzle.

  1. I hate packing and going through clothing trying to decipher what to keep and what to toss. I'm in need of a little Spring cleaning myself. I love your outfit though very casual yet put together, the colors are brilliant together. Good luck with your packing/ moving!

  2. Love this combo of mustard and emerald! Cute!

I was doing some Spring cleaning in my closet yesterday and I had the same thought...be a smarter shopper. I have so many shoes that are cute but don't necesarily work well with a wide variety of outfits.

  5. What is it about a striped long-sleeved shirt and green pants that looks so classic? I love it! It's like a springtime Audrey.

I'm going to be moving from East to West Coast within the year or so... Did you find yourself selling all your big items or renting a van?

    1. Good luck with your upcoming move -- not to psych you out, but UGH, moving is the WORST. We're selling / tossing most of our stuff, but the majority of it came from thrift stores anyways. If you've got nice stuff, than it might be worth holding onto it and getting a big ol' van.

  8. We're getting ready for a move to Alaska so I feel your pain! It's amazing how much you can accumulate. I also feel guilty when I pack up all the stuff to donste, it's money that could have been used more wisely. At least someone else will get use out of it!

    1. Exactly! I'm so easily parted with so much of my stuff, it really suggests to me that the majority of it is all junk. Time to be a smarter shopper!

  10. i surprisingly love that your earrings match your pants. sometimes i feel like if i take a piece of my outfit off in the photos (scarf, jacket, etc) then it isn't an outfit anyomore. i love this both with and without the scarf. rock out that mini remix!

i am terrified to start packing. i've been in my apt for three years and i'm moving at the end of may. what what what am i thinking?

  14. Such a lovely casual outfit! I know what you mean about the shoes - I tried to organise mine a bit better and was shocked at how many I had, I thought I didn't have that many!!!

Hope your move and the packing goes well.

  15. <3 mint green! Also, I had ALL SORTS of crazy dreams last night, one of which involved me working with some people in the fashion industry (???). One women came up to me and asked if I'd ever participated in a "last chance Monday." I told her I hadn't, but that my friend Lily totally had AND had a fashion blog. She got excited and I gave her your contact information. Shortly after this, I had a totally unrelated nightmare. I'm not sure what's happening with my subconscious, but heads up, someone from my dream-world totally might contact you about your fashion blog....

    1. Totally not an issue with me. Though it does suggest that you're like Sara from Sloppy Firsts, quote unquote (airquotes).
